Dangote Petroleum Refinery has stated that it has not received any payment made by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to purchase refined petroleum products from them.

The organisation stated this in a statement sighted by The Octopus News on 31st October 2024.

In the statement signed by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Dangote Petroleum Refinery, the organisation noted that it wishes to clarify that it has not received any payments from IPMAN to purchase refined petroleum products.

Chiejina added that although discussions are ongoing with IPMAN, it is misleading to suggest that members of IPMAN are experiencing difficulties loading refined products from their Refinery, as they currently have no direct business dealings with IPMAN.

Further, the statement added that Dangote Petroleum Refinery cannot be held responsible for any payments made to other entities, adding that the payment in mention was made through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and not Dangote Petroleum Refinery .

Furthermore, the statement noted that NNPCL neither approved nor authorised the release of Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery assured that it can meet the nation’s demand for all petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, stating that at present, they can load 2,900 trucks per day and have also been evacuating petroleum products by sea.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery advised IPMAN to register with them and make direct payments, as they have more than enough petroleum products to satisfy the needs of their members.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery urged that it is instructive for all stakeholders to refrain from making unfounded statements in the media, as that could undermine the economic re-engineering efforts of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that conducting business through public speculation is counterproductive and unpatriotic.

“In the interest of our country, we encourage all stakeholders to collaborate and heed the advice of President Tinubu, while promoting a unified approach, rather than engaging in media conflicts and needless propaganda.”
