Just as billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, holds the record of being the biggest employer of labour in Nigeria and perhaps Africa, so is it that his factories and trucks are fast becoming the biggest claimers of innocent lives.
This is however not a new story to Dangote, as the man is aware of the many lives that have been taking by his many truck which most often are set ablaze in a bid to get justice by onlookers and eye witnesses.
Hardly does a quarter go by without one story or the other of somebody being crushed by the businessman’s heavy duty trucks or an arm or leg been cut off by an heavy duty machine. The situation is now so bad that it is now a normalcy to hear staffers of the popular Dangote Group, chatting about one accident or the other in their Marble House office.
Just yesterday, Wednesday, in Otukpo, Benue State, a trader, was killed by yet another truck of the businessman, who prides himself as Africa’s most successful employer of labour.
Information gathered by Mi5, has it that one of Dangote’s truck which was carrying bags of Cement from Gboko, Benue State, crushed the 45-year-old Zobo seller who was on her way to her shop in St Mary’s Primary School, leaving her remains by the side of the road. Typically, shortly after the incident occurred, the driver of the truck vanished into thin air while the corpse of the woman was removed under the tire of the vehicle with a shovel. The incident forced angry youths in the area to set the truck ablaze.
