An award for one of the most criticized governors from southwest Nigeria will likely be picked by Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State.
Without mincing words, Prince Abiodun has been criticized for several reasons including bad roads, poor electricity and the absence of several social amenities.
Amidst the criticisms, his associates have maintained that he is a working governor.
A pointer to their position came recently with an award naming the first citizen of Ogun State as the “Governor Of The Year”
Prince Aboidun was bestowed the award courtesy the 2020 edition of Nigeria Agriculture Awards which was held in Abuja.
According to the organisers of the award, Prince Abiodun was honoured for his “strides in the agricultural sector, particularly, in the transformation of Ogun State into one of Nigeria’s top agro-industrial hubs for local and foreign direct investment.”
Interestingly, the award follows another presented by President Muhammadu Buhari, in recognition of Ogun State’s outstanding performances in rice and cassava value chain activities.
Despite the awards, there are those who still hold the position that there is more to be done to better the lots of indigenes of Ogun State.
