Afrobeats singer, Davido, has said that he doesn’t have issues with Tiwa Savage.
The “Ogechi” singer stated this during a recent interview, adding that Tiwa Savage is like family to him, and he never threatened her.
“Tiwa Savage is my sister for life, and I will protect her with all that I have,” Davido said.
He emphasized that despite the tension, he would never allow anything to harm Tiwa. “We used to stay in the same house. The situation with Tiwa was personal because she was a good friend to Sophia,” he stated.
The trouble started in January 2024, when Tiwa Savage posted a picture with Davido’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, on social media.
The post soon sparked public outburst with Tiwa’s ex-husband and former manager, Teebillz, weighing in. Teebillz reacted strongly to rumours of Davido threatening Tiwa Savage and vowed to “teach him a lesson.”
Subsequently, Tiwa Savage filed a petition with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police saying that Davido threatened her life. She also alleged other actions that infringed on her fundamental human rights.
According to her, Davido sent messages to her manager, who is also part of his management team, saying that she should not worry and should never say a word to him.
She went on to say that Davido was taunting the manager with words she found to be very disrespectful, malicious, and derogatory.
According to her, the actions of Davido are unethical and can be viewed as a direct threat to her life, privacy, and dignity.
“In the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me or any member of my family, I will like the members of the Nigerian Police Force to hold Davido responsible,” she concluded.
Despite this, Davido has insisted that the disagreement between him and Tiwa Savage was just a “brother and sister” fight, stressing his deep respect for her and her child.
He said “Tiwa Savage is my sister for life, but she changed the game for females. We are family, and I love her and her child. It’s just like a brother and sister fight. She did reach out. I will never allow anything to happen to her.”
