Defection: Governor Ortom Speaks On Speculation About Defecting From PDP To APC

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to claims that he is set to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Ortom left the APC in 2018.
In a statement released on Thursday, November 19, through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Ortom said that he has no plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor’s aide described the defection rumour as mischievous statements from members of the opposition.
He said: “Those involved in the impish allegation are clearly doing so to soothe their stuck-up apprehensions. Why will Governor Ortom return to APC? To do what?”
He further disclosed that Ortom turned down the request of some notable persons asking him to defect from the PDP. Akase said the governor has no intention to leave the PDP, noting that anyone insinuating a defection was being ridiculous.
The governor’s aide advised people behind the rumour to engage in more productive activities instead of spreading falsehood.
