Emerging results from the Edo State gubernatorial election that held yesterday Saturday, September 19, have confirmed Governor Godwin Obaseki is leading.
Obaseki, the incumbent governor of the state is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, while his closest contender is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Results from the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday morning confirmed an early lead Obaseki.
The results of 13 local governments have already been announced by the electoral commission with Obaseki clinching 11, with five others yet to be released.
A quick summation of the votes awarded to Obaseki in 13 local governments stood at 243,604, while Ize-Iyamu’s was 154,192.
This is an advancement in an earlier report which stateed that Obaseki had a 50,000 vote lead.
