The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed that that the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in the Edo State gubernatorial election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu might be disqualified.
According to the PDP, his disqualification boils down to issues surrounding his nomination as the APC flagbearer in the election.
The claim was made by the spokesperson for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday, September 17.
According to Ologbondiyan, Ize-Iyamu has been rejected by leaders of the APC.
He further alleged that there is apprehension in the APC over the possible disqualification of Osagie Ize-Iyamu due to unresolved legal issues surrounding his nomination as the party’s governorship candidate in Edo state.
Ologbondiyan stated that with the situation, governors on the platform of the APC have abandoned Ize-Iyamu’s campaign over his nomination issues.
According to him, the APC governors do not want to be associated with the Ize-Iyamu campaign for fear of being sanctioned for undermining the nation’s electoral process.
