EndSARS: Court Approves CBN’s Request To Freeze Promoters Accounts

A request by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to freeze the accounts of those linked to the #EndSARS protests has been granted by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The apex bank gave the go-ahead to freeze the accounts of 19 people and a public affairs company linked to the protests against police brutality in Nigeria.
On Tuesday, October 20, CBN filed the request and was granted permission by the court on Thursday, November 5.
Recall that the country had been ravaged by the EndSARS protest which was hijacked by hoodlums leading to the damage of both government and public properties in several states.
Interestingly, this development is coming after the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) explained why it seized the passport of a prominent EndSARS protester, Modupe Odele.
The NIS spokesman, Sunday James, on Thursday, November 5, explained that the seizure of Odele’s passport is part of the NIS’ routine border checks.
Odele, a lawyer and a member of the Feminist Coalition (FC), had claimed she was restricted from travelling out of the country by NIS officials.
