Adamawa State Judicial Panel is set to commence sitting on Tuesday, November 17.
The panel set up by the state government is expected to investigate all issues of alleged police brutality and human rights abuses or related extra-judicial killings in the state.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Security at government House, Suleiman Usman, the general public can forward their complaints, petitions, and memoranda to the panel.
He said physical submission of petitions or oral lodging of complaints would be done be at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) conference hall, Yola, the state capital.
Usman said: “The panel led by Justice Adamu Hobon (rtd) is inviting memoranda complaints and petitions on police brutality and torture from affected members of the public.
“Physical submission of petitions or oral lodging of complaints shall be at the Universal Basic Education Board conference Hall or via the under listed channels from 9:00 am closing hours daily for two weeks, beginning from Tuesday 10th November 2020.”
The statement noted that complaints can be lodged through inquirypanel2020@gmail.com and Whatsapp number; 09133293764 and 0913322479. It called on all traditional rulers, chairmen, and councilors of local government councils to assist individuals with complaints or petitions to submit them appropriately.
