Enugu Passes Anti-open Grazing Bill Into Law

The anti-open grazing bill has been passed into law by the Enugu State House of Assembly after a third reading.
The bill reportedly scaled through after thorough consideration by the lawmakers.
This follows the September 1 deadline taken by the Southern Governors, for an end to open grazing of cattle.
Recall that earlier in the week, the state assembly held a public hearing on the bill.
During the public hearing, the umbrella body of Fulani herdsmen, the Miyetti Allah had asked for a one-month extension to enable them make input on the bill.
But at the plenary on Thursday, the bill was passed into law and would now be sent to the state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, for his approval.
