The saying that “If you want to hide anything, put it in a book” is a popular one in Nigeria.
What this simply implies is that the reading culture of Nigerians is low.
One woman who is aware of this and is trying to proffer a solution is Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the First Lady of Ekiti State.
Erelu Fayemi will join others including multi-concept firm OpenWay Global Concepts and Convergence to promote reading culture among the Nigerian populace when they stage a two-kilometre reading awareness walk and colloquium on Tuesday, April 23, in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The event, which has the technical support of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) will feature a special public reading by the wife of the governor and will also witness the presence of youths drawn from various organisations in the state.
“Among others, the event is designed to promote the objective of the world book and copyright day, celebrated every April 23,” Adesina Adetola, Chief Executive Officer of OpenWay Global Concepts said during an interaction.
