Former Nigerian international, Finidi George commenced his managerial career as the interim head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria on a positive note.
The gaffer who was appointed by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), pending when a substantiate coach is named led the Super Eagles to defeat the Black Stars of Ghana in a FIFA rated international friendly match played in Marrakesh, Morocco today, Friday, March 22.
Nigeria drew the first blood from a spot kick scored by Cyriel Dessers in the 38th minute while Ademola Lookman added the second goal for the Super Eagles in the 84th minute.
Ghana, however, got a consolation goal in added time when they were awarded a penalty that was scored by Jordan Ayew in the 95th minute.
With the victory over Ghana, Nigeria’s interim boss will hope he has impressed the NFF that he deserves to be given the vacant manager job on a full-time basis.
Coach George will lead the Super Eagles out once again on Tuesday, 26th when they play Mali in another friendly match.
Until his appointment as the interim coach of the Super Eagles, George was the coach of Enyimba Football Club, a Nigerian professional football club based in the city of Aba, Abia State.
The club currently sit third on the Nigeria Premier Football League table.
