There was a mild drama in court on Thursday, December 12, as the trial of the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina continued.
Maina, who was recently extradited to Nigeria to face trial in a money-laundering suit slumped as he was being brought into court for the commencement of trial.
He reportedly collapsed during the resumed hearing in his N2bn money laundering trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The defence lawyer, Anayo Adibe, was briefing the judge, Justice Okon Abang, that his team was yet to receive the records of proceedings requested from the court’s registry when Maina’s collapse attracted attention from the dock.
While the prison officials immediately rushed to attend to him, Justice Abang said the court would rise for about five minutes.
