Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to erstwhile President, Muhammadu Buhari, has refuted the position of the Senate Committee on Aviation that the Nigeria Air project is a fraud.
Recall that the lawmakers had asked the federal government to discontinue the project they alleged is shrouded in secrecy.
The committee members expressed misgivings towards the unveiling of the national carrier during a meeting with Dapo Olumide, the Interim Managing Director of Nigeria; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation, Emmanuel Meribole; as well as heads of aviation agencies.
At the meeting, Biodun Olujimi, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation Aviation, wondered why Hadi Sirika, the immediate past Minister of Aviation, hurriedly unveiled a national carrier on the last day of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
However, reacting to the position of the committee, Ahmad noted that the project is not a fraud, as the aviation ministry has made a significant progress towards its realization.
He tweeted; “NigeriaAir is NOT a fraud, the Aviation Ministry has made a significant progress towards its realization. Branding unveiled, partnerships and agreements signed, most of the operational certificates issued, and operational offices opened. NigeriaAir will fly to make Nigeria proud.”
