Years ago, the vogue in the movie industry was thespians hitting music studios to produce songs.
While the newfound passion was not a success, many who had ventured into it could not walk out for fear of being tagged failures.
Songs dropped by actresses like Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola and Jelade-Ekehinde among others experienced stillbirth, as they died without hitting the shelves.
Though criticised as wasting their time the actresses insisted that singing was a long-nursed passion.
While some people described it as a bandwagon act, Stella Damasus reacted, saying she had being a musician long before even discovering her acting talent.
Damasus was perhaps right, as she has remained the only actress in the pack who has shown a glimmer of talent each time she hits the stage.
Interestingly, today, Nollywood thespians who walked the road of music have all ignored what they termed innate passion, leaving many to say, “what a waste of time!”
