Glitz, Glamour, Winners At 17th Headies Awards

The Headies Awards, one of Nigeria’s biggest events held on Sunday, April 27.

The award which was celebrating its 17th edition held at the Landmark Event Center, Lekki, Lagos.

Tagged “Back to Base’, the award returned to Nigeria and indeed Africa after two years abroad.

Hosted by the duo of Nancy Isime and IK Osakioduwa, the award honoured several Nigerian artists, producers, and creatives including newly married Juma Jux, who took home the award for Best East African Artiste of the Year, beating other notable nominees such as Bien (Kenya), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Bruce Melodie (Rwanda), and Azawi (Uganda).

Also on the winners list on the night was Limpopo crooner,  Kcee who went home with the Special Recognition Award.

Though late, Mohbad also received a posthumous honour with the Best Street-Hop Artiste award for his hit single “Ask About Me”.

Odumodublvck, won the Next Rated category category, having been one of the sensations of the music industry in recent times.

Other winners include Tems with the song “Burning” for Best Recording of the Year, London who won Producer of the Year for the song Ozeba Rema with the song Heis for the category of Afrobeats Album of the Year.

The Songwriter of the Year category went to Qing Madi for the song Vision Winner, while the Rookie of the Year category went to Zerrydl.
