Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has rescued the former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh from policemen who laid siege to her house.
Governor Wike had reportedly forcefully gained entrance into Nunieh’s residence, ordered the police officers out, and later drove off with her.
Recall that we had earlier reported that the woman’s home located at 3, Owuru Creek View, off Herbert Macaulay Street, Old GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State had been taken over by officers of the police who placed her on house arrest, preventing her from testifying to a House committee investigating the NDDC.
However, following reports of the siege, Wike drove to her house and rescued the woman who is scheduled to meet a house committee probing the NDDC.
Recall that Nunieh and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio had been enmeshed in a face-off with the latter accusing Akpabio of embezzlement and sexually harassing her.
