Residents of Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State, were thrown into a frenzy on Tuesday, November 11.
This follows an engagement between suspected operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the militant wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and men of the police at Osumoghu junction.
The attack which lasted for over three hours came during the supplementary governorship election of Tuesday, November 9 in Ihiala.
Reports have it that the gunmen were seeking to enter Ihiala through Mbosi and Osumoghu. The development forced joint security operatives to block the Mbosi/Osumoghu junction bordering Imo State.
The joint security operatives which comprised of mobile policemen, Army, Navy, and other security agencies prevented people from accessing Osumoghu junction due to the gun battle.
