Talk of an untouchable in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the name likely to emerge is that of Ibrahim Magu, boss of the Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC).
Prior to his invitation for confirmation by the Senate, Magu’s words were laws.
To some people, he ran the EFCC like a kingdom in itself. While he recovered huge sums of money, his unsupervised fight against corruption gave him so much power that many dreaded him.
Magu went after Governors, Senators and anyone who had been suspected of committing a crime. He was like a raging bull, but the zeal to hunt might just have been smitten with the expression on his face, as he left the Senate on Wednesday, March 15.
Having been invited by the Senate for screening and confirmation as the sustentative boss of the EFCC twice and turned down on both occasions it appears Magu might just have been cut to size.
