Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has stated that his life is not safe, adding that Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State should be held responsible if anything happens to him.
Governor Ortom stated this in a recent interview he granted, as the crisis between the governors continues to escalate.
Ortom was quoted to have said that some herdsmen have threatened to assassinate him after Mohammed’s statement that Fulani herdsmen have the right to carry AK-47.
He said he believes that Governor Mohammed was the one who gave the herdsmen the power to issue a death threat on him.
According to him, “I think my brother, the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, should just come out and apologise to Nigerians. It will be consoling because we all made mistakes, and if he apologises, it will be appreciated. But to continue to argue is inflicting pains, especially on some of us that have been victims of these Fulani herdsmen.
“We are thinking that it is part of the conspiracy to wipe away some people including Benue state. And this is not correct. And I want to think that with what he is saying, and what those herdsmen wrote to me that they want to assassinate me, Bala Mohammed is also part of it with what he has said.
“And if anything happens to me, I don’t want anybody to be in doubt, Bala Mohammed should be held responsible, especially over his condemnable remarks he made that Fulani herdsmen should be carrying AK-47.”
