Akeem Sodeinde, when his Diabetics problem started
For many, the death of the Nigerian King of Night Club business and boss of rested Movida Night Club, Akeem Sodeinde popular as “General” did not come as a surprise.
Many knew this day would come, as the man who suffered many illnesses including acute Diabetic never slowed down on his drinking and smoking habit till his death.
Having been operated in India and UK and living on a Kidney, Sodeinde returned to Nigeria to re-launch his club in style. He was advised to stop drinking, as desisting would only lead to his death.
He continued with his routine drinking and smoking, as he never slowed down on clubbing, gambling and partying.
Set to setup a mega night club in Abuja, Sodeinde died without fulfilling this dream.
His last days were filled with nightmares, as blood clot took over his system and a Hausa man had to cut through his skin and suck out the clot using a horn. This was simply because his doctors abroad had told him he would never be operated on. His last operation was done through his anus. This is a fact.
In his dying days, Sodeinde, never knew how to slow down, as he believed he would die someday and somehow. For him, death will always come.
Sometimes back, when Rotimi Ajanaku celebrated his son’s birthday, Gbenga Islander, Shina Peller and Akeem Sodeinde were served Hennessey XO, but Peller couldn’t drink because he was observing the 30 days mandatory Muslim fast. Sodeinde despite living on one Kidney took the drink away, as his take away drink. Such was the height of Sodeinde’s defiance towards death, he just didn’t fear death.
For Sodeinde, it came in the early hours of Sunday, May 10th in his sleep having suffered a Kidney relapsed. Presently, family members are trickling into his house in Oniru, Lagos.
