Made Men Music Group (MMMG) boss, Ubi Franklin speaks about his fashion in this interview with www.theoctopusnews.com.
Can you tell us about your fashion sense?
I am a very local guy. For me, fashion is about what you are comfortable wearing. I was a Jean and Tee shirt guy. When I started wearing native I felt this is what I am comfortable in and I continued wearing it. Even when I go out of Nigeria I wear my natives. I am comfortable in them.
Who are the individuals who have influenced your fashion?
I have a couple of them. I have names such as Timaya, Taiwo Gabriels, he makes most of the natives I wear. The Okunoren Twins, my cousin also makes clothes Omini Stiches and 2Baba.
2Baba is more of a Jean person, isn’t he?
When you look at a person, it is not about what he is wearing, it is about his shoes, his wrist watch. It is about how he combines what he wears. I used to have a girlfriend, if you buy all the designers in the world for her it won’t fit her. Until I found time to explain to her that it wasn’t the clothes, but how she carried herself.
What is your understanding of fashion and style?
Style is what you belief, while fashion is a trend in the world. For instance, fashion is the 2016 shoes, while style is how you combine what you have without considering what is in vogue.
