For many, the story of DJ Cuppy is simply that of a rich girl who found a lot of money to throw around. This is a fact, but those who feed from her father’s pot would have you believe something else.
Since launching a career in the Nigerian music industry, DJ Cuppy has hardly been able to achieve anything positive besides meager show, and an inauguration performance which she agrees was a flop showing.
Since then, her target has remained getting to the top of her game, something which seems futile despite millions having gone down the drain.
Having released House of Cuppy 1, a compilation featuring some of Nigeria’s top artistes many had wondered if that was the magic she would need, but did she disappoint them? Yes and massively too.
Rather than help the songs she featured on House of Cuppy 1 to do well she nailed them to death making a mess of it.
The return of DJ Cuppy with her second compilation didn’t make any difference, as it was the same old story. Old wine in new bottle, but even with that DJ Cuppy couldn’t prove the old saying of “the older the wine the better the taste.”
She even went as far as featuring an expired and exhausted idea of the comic Jennifer as intro done by thespian, Funke Akindele leaving many wondering if she had any business with music at all.
Her most recent failed attempt is the eight country show which kicked off in Nigeria and was supposed to give her a push. Having started with a posh party in Lagos and rounded off in South Africa, DJ Cuppy returned home to Nigeria to find herself still in the old mix she used to be. It won’t be difficult to argue that DJ Cuppy’s compilations hardly make the CD Shelves when they get released. What a waste of time.
