The reward for a job well done is more work. This is what is often said to hard-working individuals.
However, there seems to be an exception to the rule where Joyce Onafowokan, the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Social Development is concerned.
Since her appointment, Onafowokan has toiled for disabled children in Lagos State, trying to make their lives meaningful.
Through thick and thin, the Early Intervention Specialist, certified by the state of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health, made sure that disabled children and indeed their parents have hope.
With funds provided by her principal, Governor Ambode, the woman who spent most of her adult life in America laid a landmark for social development in Lagos State, putting smiles on the faces of many.
However, those smiles might just be set to fade off, as the helping hand which the woman has been extending to disabled children and their parents is about to be cut short.
Like a lot of people, Onafowokan will wave farewell to all she has done and the legacies she has created for disabled children in Lagos State when her boss’s tenure in office comes to an end. But is her job with disabled children really done?
