Justice Olukayode Ariwoola of the Supreme Court has been named the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
62-year-old Ariwoola took over from Justice Tanko Muhammad following his resignation on Sunday, June 26th.
Justice Ariwoola who took the oath of office on Monday, June 27, is expected to serve in an acting capacity till further confirmation by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
He was administered the oath of office by President Muhammadu Buhari at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Ariwoola swore to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Government of Nigeria, as well as defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
