Labour Party (LP) supporters reportedly fought over money on Thursday, November 10.
The money is said to be what was promised to them for attending the party’s mega rally in Abia State.
The supporters accused the party leadership and organizers of the event of diverting the funds meant for them.
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the party, was in the state on Thursday to flag off Alex Otti’s governorship campaign.
Sharing photos of his arrival in a tweet, Obi said: “I have arrived in Abia State for Dr. Alex Otti’s Governorship campaign flag off in Aba.”
Earlier, Otti had tweeted about Obi’s arrival, saying, “Welcome to Abia “God’s own state” @PeterObi , Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, and your entourage. Ndi Abia are ready to take back their state,” Otti had written.
Meanwhile, in videos circulating online, some members of the Labour Party could be seen shouting and struggling with one another as money was being shared to them after the rally.
“How much are they giving us here?” a party member who attended the rally was heard saying.
Also, an old woman was also heard complaining that the coordinators of the rally had not given her “rally money and drink”.
The videos also show how funds were being distributed to some of those who attended the rally.
