The Lagos State House of Assembly is set to probe the immediate past governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The probe centers on Ambode’s unlawful purchase Of 820 buses estimated to have cost the state 45 billion Naira.
Ambode’s probe follows a motion move by Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti Osa 1) at the plenary session today Tuesday, August 27.
Yishawu said: “The former Governor purchased 820 buses without a budgetary approval by the house which is against the constitution”
Further, he said that the amount for the acquisition had been put at 45 billion and the state government had tried so much to engage the custom service to wave the 20 billion custom duties but that has not been possible.
On this ground, the member representing Eto Osa 1 called for the probe of Ambode.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa therefore has set up an adhoc committee to invite the people involve in the transaction of the buses and have them investigate thoroughly.
According to the Speaker, the Honorable Fatai Mojeed-led committee is mandated to investigate the purchase of 820 buses that had been scheduled for public transport in the state.
Meanwhile, this comes just days after the EFCC raided the Epe and Lagos home of the former governor.
