Statistics of the Lekki Massacre presented to Lagosian by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been discredited.
The discrediting of Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s information was done by a medical doctor at Doren Hospital, Lekki, Lagos State, where some victims of the Lekki Toll Gate shootings victims were taken to.
Giving an update on patients at the hospital, the doctor explained that over 20 patients were brought in. Some got sutured and chose to leave soon after. Those placed on admission were 17 in number, he said.
The doctor added that one of the victims brought to the hospital died because he had been shot in the heart.
He also revealed that they now need an ambulance to transport two patients to a different hospital where there is a vascular surgeon available.
According to him, one of the patients needing transfer was shot in the lung. The other was shot in the leg and the blood vessel was affected.
The doctor said the two patients need to be transferred because “they’ve passed our capacity to care for them.” He also added that the one who was shot in the lung needs to have his chest opened, while adding that another victim is currently in the theatre, undergoing surgery.
At the moment, the total number of casualties from the Lekki shooting has not been ascertained. However, there have been speculated figures.
