Manchester United has parted ways with its club manager, Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese tactician was sacked following the club’s embarrassing 3 – 1 defeat to league leaders, Liverpool on Sunday, December 16.
A statement credited to the club said: “Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.”
“A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager. ”
Mourinho has had an unstable 2018/2019 season losing embarrassingly to some clubs.
He was made manager of the Manchester United side in 2016, but leaves them in sixth place on the table with 19 points having already lost five times in 17 matches.
