A medical report from from the National Correctional Service (NCS) presented to a Federal High Court, Abuja has revealed that Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Pension Reforms Task Force (PRTF) is fit to stand trial.
According to the report, Maina only has slight malaria and high blood pressure.
Th report presented to the court on Monday, November 25, puts to rest rumours that Maina is sick, having been seen either on wheelchair or using walking stick since his arraignment.
According to The Cable, the report was signed by Remi Ojo, an assistant comptroller general (medical) of the service.
The report said Maina was suffering from high blood pressure but it has been brought under control. “Maina vital organs are working normal. He is fit to stand trial.” Consequently, Okon Abang, the judge, ordered the prosecution to serve the defence team with the report.
Recall that Maina was granted bail on Monday, November 25, in the sum of one billion Naira with two sureties in like sum.
The ex-pension reform boss, who is standing trial on alleged money laundering charge to the tune of over N2 billion levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), had arrived at the court with the aid of a walking stick.
The EFCC had on October 25, arraigned Maina alongside his firm, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, before Justice Abang.
