Missing schoolboys: FG Talks Tough, Says Students Will Return Home In Hours

Nigeria’s government has reacted to the disappearance of 333 missing students in Kastina State.

Assuring the Kastina State government and parents of the student, the federal government said that the schoolboys will be home very soon.

Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd.) gave the assurance on Sunday, December 13, when he paid a visit to Governor Bello Masari over the abduction of the schoolboys by bandits.

He said: “Within the next few hours, we will ensure that these people are back without any collateral damage to the people of Katsina State; we have strategised.”

Meanwhile,  troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly found the location of the bandits who abducted the boys and have surrounded them.

Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu was quoted to have said this in a chat with an international media house.

Shehu also claimed that only ten students were in the captivity of the abductors as against the impression that 333 were kidnapped.

Recall that several students had been reportedly kidnapped by bandits from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government area of Katsina State on Friday.

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker representing Kaduna central senatorial district was among the first to confirm the abduction of the students in a tweet on Saturday, December 12. The gunmen had invaded the school at about 11 pm and launched an attack on the area that lasted for over two hours.

The Katsina state government, on Sunday, December 13, officially confirmed that 333 students were unaccounted for after the attack by bandits on their school. Governor Bello Masari released the official figures when he met the federal government team consisting of Magashi, the National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno and others paid him a visit over the incident.
