Senator Elisha Abbo has slammed the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) Bola Tinubu for saying that h picked a Muslim as his running mate because he is competent.

Recall that Tinubu had on Sunday, July 10, announced he had picked former Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, as his Vice President.

Reacting to the statement, Abbo said that it is an insult for APC presidential candidate Tinubu to say there are no competent Christians in the north, adding that Tinubu owed Christians in Nigeria an apology.

In his words:

”I think it is insulting to say no competent Christian to be a Vice President. How competent is Tinubuto be President? If you say my father is not competent, no Bishop is competent, no Christian Professor is competent? I think that is annoying, that is insulting and he should apologise to Christians for saying that. He should come and apologise to Christians for saying that….that it is based on competency…That is insulting.

“I have said this before. This shouldn’t be what Christians are crying out for. Muslims should be the ones to take up this fight and say we do not accept this because it is against the Muslim faith.”
