**Says move is a sign of empathy for financial burdens being faced by Nigerians
Dangote Refinery has been commended by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Epe Branch, for its recent reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. S.O. Jimoh, the NBA Epe Branch—which oversees the Epe and Ibeju-Lekki regions, home to the 65,000 barrels per day (BPD) Dangote Refinery—acknowledged the refinery’s dual role as a private enterprise and a critical driver of the nation’s economy.
In the statement, Dr. Jimoh highlighted the fact that the refinery’s operations go beyond profit-making, as its products are essential to daily life and influence various economic value chains across Nigeria.
Dr. Jimoh described the price reductions as a remarkable act of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and empathy for the financial burdens many Nigerians are currently experiencing. He commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, for his foresight and commitment to societal welfare, noting that this action reflects a balance between business success and the well-being of the populace.
The statement also recalled Alhaji Dangote’s earlier commitment to ensuring competitive petroleum product prices, a promise he made during a visit by NBA National Officers to the refinery last year, ahead of the association’s Annual General Conference (AGC).
“The NBA Epe Branch believes this gesture by the Dangote Refinery may have positively influenced the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) recent review of petrol pump prices,” Dr. Jimoh remarked.
While expressing gratitude for the current price reductions, the branch voiced optimism that further price cuts would follow as the refinery stabilizes its operations and economic conditions improve.
Reaffirming its support for initiatives that prioritize citizens’ welfare and national development, the NBA Epe Branch urged stakeholders to maintain collaboration and innovation to ensure Nigerians reap the full benefits of the refinery’s world-class operations.
“The NBA Epe Branch encourages continuous efforts to create a sustainable and inclusive economic environment for the nation,” the statement concluded.
