Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has reportedly left the hospital.
Pondei who reportedly slumped earlier today while being questioned by the House of Representatives committee on NDDC left the hospital where he was taken after being rushed from the National Assembly.
The acting managing director of the commission was being grilled for over an hour when he slowly slumped over his desk, appearing to have fainted.
He was aided as he seemed to fall in and out of consciousness and subsequently helped out of the National Assembly after being propped as the proceeding was stopped.
Meanwhile, the commission had reportedly stated that the NDDC boss was ill for the past two weeks, a development that made his doctors advised him to stay clear from the probe.
In a statement issued by the Director of Corporate Affairs of the agency, Charles Odili, it added Pondei collapsed because he ignored his doctors’ advice not to attend the session.
It stated, “The commission wishes to disclose that Prof Pondei has been ill for the past two weeks. This morning, his condition deteriorated, and his doctors advised against attending the hearing.
“However, he ignored his doctors’ advice because of the realisation that his accusers will use his absence at the hearing to soil his name and reputation.
