Select netizens in Nigeria are contesting the allegation of naira abuse being peddled against the sons of billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Aare Razak Akanni Okoya CON.

Recall that the duo of Wahab and Subomi Okoya aided by an unidentified policeman were spotted in a viral video displaying stacks of naira notes, as they promoted the video of “Credit Alert”,  a new song released by one of them.

Following the emergence of the video on social media, critics and naysayers screamed abuse of the naira, with many begrudging the boys without any evidence.

Amidst the criticisms, certain people have questioned the basis for the alleged abuse of the naira, stating that unlike the cases of Idris Okuneye popular as Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest which were prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the boys only displayed the currency, and never stepped on it, tore or even squeezed it.

It is on this premise that the position that Subomi and Wahab Okoya were targeted for criticisms and allegation of abuse of the naira because they are children of the affluent has become very popular.

Further, they argue that there is no way they could have broken the law by displaying their family’s mammoth wealth.

Indeed, it is natural to find people on social media hating on you for achieving heights they have not due to pure envy, could this be the case with the Okoya’s sons?

Indeed, support for the boys have increased while calls for the Okoya’s to get very good lawyers to argue the case of Subomi and Wahab Okoya when they honour the invitation of the EFCC on Monday, January 13, has also not diminished.

Reactions in support of the Okoya boy’s on various social media platforms include the following,

nellymesik: “Frankly there was no abuse of naira here.”

mc_yannist: “Where is the abuse? Am not seeing any naira in this video or on the floor”

mister_¬boffy: “boys promoting their songs with FAKE naira notes is not a crime. The policeman is innocent. CASE CLOSED!”

sisiogebeauty: “No be real money. Make all of una calm down”

femi_alabii: “So unnecessary!”

stephen_jachike: “I no see naira abuse for here o!”

avura_”Which offense the boys commit if no be hate wey full una heart!”
