A Nigerian national whose name was not given has been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai.
He was arrested on Sunday, December 4, in connection with the seizure of cocaine worth Rs 18.
The DRI had on Saturday, December 3, 2022, arrested a 27-year-old Kenyan man and a 30-year-old woman from Guinea with 1,794 gm of cocaine.
The passengers had arrived from Addis Ababa by an Ethiopian Airlines flight. Upon examination of their luggage, four empty handbags were recovered.
Two plastic pouches were recovered from each bag after they were cut open. In total, eight plastic pouches containing powdery substance were recovered.
The substance was tested with a narcotics field testing kit and it tested positive for ‘cocaine’ – a substance covered under NDPS Act 1985.
The male passenger is a clown by profession and the female passenger is engaged in ladies clothing business.
The three accused were produced before a court, which sent them to judicial custody, the official said.
