There are several reasons to order food as an alternative of making it yourself: laziness, indulgence, trying a new recipe, quick food at your convenience or a schedule in the office that’s made you too busy to go out for lunch. And clearly, plenty of us are feeling this way because according to Hellofood, Nigerians have been ordering a lot of takeout, a list has been compiled of Nigerian’s take away choice for 2014.
The online food ordering service revealed what kinds of takeout are most popular in Nigerian cities using their own customer data, and the results may be surprising. In Abuja, Pizza and Chinese was the top cuisine with most customers, while Lagos ordered more Nigerian food, Fried and Jollof rice was a favourite as well as Sharwarma. In Port Harcourt, Nigerian Cuisine also received more takeout orders with customers ordering more swallows and soups.
The site rounded up the top three foods ordered by its customers in 3 of Nigerian’s popular cities, whilst Nigerian food, Pizza and Chinese were popular picks. Of course, the results aren’t final, as there are consumers still yet to order take-away food this year, but it does give a good impression of exactly where Nigerians taste buds lie and that is mostly within Nigerian food.
