The Federal Government has released an update on the enrollment of the National Identity Number (NIN).
According to the update, any National Identity Number (NIN) generated through the Bank Verification Number (BVN) must still undergo registration at NIMC enrollment centre.
This was communicated to Nigerians by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
The agency disclosed on Twitter on Monday, January 11, that NIN generated by BVN can only be valid after it has been updated at an enrollment centre.
In another tweet on Tuesday, January 12, NIMC urged Nigerians who generated NIN through BVN to complete their registration.
Recall that NIMC had disassociated itself from a mobile app said to be used for registration.
In a post on its Twitter handle, NIMC dissociated itself from the mobile app saying that it is run by fraudsters who use it to harvest people’s NIN and BVN.
The commission advised people to protect their data and stop disclosing personal information to unauthorised persons or platforms.
