Security operatives have taken over the South-Eastern part of Nigeria ahead of the burial of Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife, Ugoeze Meme Sally, both parents of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).
According to reports, there is a heavy presence of security men in Anambra, Imo and Abia states, as the burial holds on Friday, February 14.
Holding at lsiama Afaraukwu, Umuahia North Local Government area of Abia State, tension has trailed the burial with members of IPOB and security agencies exchanging words over the event.
Travelers revealed that no fewer than 10 checkpoints manned by military and police operatives were counted between Onitsha and Uli.
Recall that Abia State police authorities had threatened to disrupt the burial if members of the IPOB show up there.
The police decision is believed to be borne out of its intention to forestall a possible breakdown of law and order.
