The Ondo State gubernatorial election has witnessed its first report of violence with reports of sporadic gunshots in a polling unit.
Report reaching The Octopus News revealed that the incident occurred at Pollíng Unit 11, Edo Lodge in Oke Ijebu, Akure, the state capital.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command said that it was indeed an incident that had been brought under control.
Ondo police spokesman, Tee-Lee Ikoro confirmed the incident and said mobile police operatives have been deployed to the scene.

Reacting to the development on Twitter, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that those shooting are thugs from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The opposition party said that the plan is to scare away voters from the polling unit.
