Students of some public Primary and Secondary Schools in Ondo State have embarked on a three-week holiday.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu gave the directive on the holiday on Saturday, citing the flood condition in the state.
Flood has become a major issue of worry in riverine areas and flood-prone communities of the state.
According to Governor Akeredolu, the directive would forestall possible attendant incidents that may likely affect lives of vulnerable pupils in those areas as a result of the floods.
It is also aimed at protecting valuables from avoidable destruction.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, urged Head Teachers and Principals to enforce the directive and ensure that all perishable educational materials are evacuated.
