Prolific author, Dr. Ope Banwo has held the Youtube premiere of his most recent work “The Kingmaker of Muguland”.
The first part of the work which was recently released in an online event received rave reviews from movie buffs and book readers alike.
Reactions that have trailed the book to movie premiere include that of Ada O, who said: “Absolutely gripping! The twists and power plays are unmatched and remind me of what I have forgotten about Nigerian vicious politics. I don’t know if this is fiction at all but can’t wait for part 2!”
On his part, Affiz B reacted thus: “This is historical fiction storytelling at its finest. Muguland feels so real because it took me back to memory lanes about the parallels with Nigeria’s real political history. Nicely done Dr Ope. The portrayal of Iyanla Eleniyan and General Bacha-Bacha’s military rule and end was epic. Hope you don’t get into trouble for this ‘fiction’ ”
Some guests including Tunde A. who watched the premiere refused to acknowledge it as a work of fiction. “Hmmmm. Fiction indeed. The characters in the graphics-based movie remind vividly of real-life characters in our current politics!” Tunde A noted.
Lemi J. who couldn’t hide his excitement exploded, saying “Every scene was explosive! I’m already hooked on the next part. This is a masterpiece of historical proportions. Be safe bro. This one is volatile.”
The excitement is however not restricted to Lemi J. and Tunde A. alone, as Sola A. expressed his interest in the work in this manner: ”Wow. I was having PTSD watching the scenes especially the parts about General Bacha-Bacha’s rule and how he eventually died of a ‘poisoned apple’ from Lebanon. That was epic storytelling where fiction is indistinguishable from real life facts.”
Reacting after the premiere, Dr. Banwo thanked everyone who joined the event which he aptly called “Instant Premiere”. He tagged the event a night to remember, acknowledging the drama, the power plays, and the rise of Chief Bisola Eleniyan, noting thus: “It had us all on the edge of our seats.”
As part two gets set for release next Sunday, fans and those interested in watching part one can do so HERE
