Two men have been arrested by the Benue state police command for raping and robbing a married woman.
The men identified as Tersoo Joseph, aka Adikpo, and Demenenge Iorwa were paraded before newsmen at the command’s headquarters on Wednesday, February 20th.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Omololu Bishi, the suspects who were part of a robbery gang, attacked and abducted a woman on February 9th, raped her and then stole her phone and the N 2, 000 she had on her.
“On February 9, 2019, around 6pm, some armed robbers operating on a motorcycle behind the Bem Hotels, Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi, abducted a woman and took her to the Quararafa Quarters, Wadata, where they raped and robbed her of a phone and N2,000. During investigation, Tersoo Joseph, aka Adikpo, and Demenenge Iorwa, of Logo 1, Makurd, were arrested in connection with the case. The suspects have confessed to the crime,” he said.
The police added that the suspects would be arraigned in court soon.
