To be mixed up in a ‘non-performance’ mess is indeed bad for the image of any musician. For an act that is just building his brand and has found acceptance, its worse. This is why Mavin Records artiste, Reekado Banks has come under serious criticism for failing to show up at a wedding which held at Benin City, Edo State recently despite being paid two million Naira.
Contracted by comedian Uwa Idahosa on behalf of a couple, the singer failed to show-up at the event. As if that was not bad enough, efforts made to get back from the singer’s manager, Temi also failed, as he insisted that 1.2 million was for logistics and he could only refund 800,000.00, leading to his arrest and that of his manager.
It is shocking that despite being groomed by Don Jazzy who seems to have found a way of ensuring a scandal free career, Reekado Banks has not learnt anything.
Questions that have trailed him since his arrest includes why he collected money for a show he knew he was not going to appear at, why couldn’t he just apologize and return the money having disappointed, instead of making a scene to the extent that he and his manager got arrested.
Being the kid that he is Reekado Banks seems to think he can sit down in his sittingroom and rake in 1.2 million Naira, hence his refusal to make a refund.
Whatever might have played in his head, one fact which is certain is that he will be second guessed every time someone else needs him to perform.
Asides this, his integrity and sincerity will be a subject of questioning anytime he is to be hired for an event.
