News Power Grid Shut Down Reason For Blackout-TCN Published 5 years ago on December 13, 2019 By The Octopus News Admin The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has explained why Nigerians are still experiencing blackout despite an end to the strike. Recall that the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) had embarked on a strike on Wednesday. Explaining that the blackout was due to grid instability as the system was forced to shut down, the TCN Managing Director (MD), Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed, explained that it takes a minimum of one day for the grid to be stabilised, adding that the entire country had been reached, and supply would be gradually restored. “At the point of ramping up, the grid was brought down by force and this caused a lot of problems but as of today, we have reached all parts of the country. However it takes time, it is a gradual thing. Normally it takes more than one day,” he said.
