The Senate President of the 10th Assembly, Godswill Akpabio has distanced himself from any involvement in the sack of Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo.
Abbo, the senator who represented the Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly until his sack today by an appeal court sitting in Abuja had alleged that Akpabio was behind his travail.
In a press conference, Abbo said that Akpabio had targeted him because he worked against his emergence as Senate President. The embattled lawmaker also mentioned Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the next target of the Senate President.
However, in his reaction to the allegation, Eseme Eyiboh, media aide to the Senate President said his principal has no hand in the court judgement, which sacked Abbo from the Senate on Monday night, October 16.
“It is unfortunate if he actually said that Akpabio was responsible for his removal. That’s the swan song of a man looking for scapegoats.
“The Court of Appeal across the country decides cases based on the provisions of the Electoral Act and evidence advanced by petitioners. “
“The Senate President has no reason to witch-hunt any of his colleagues.”
