Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially submitted a petition against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The petition was submitted during Wednesday’s plenary session, citing Senate Rule 40.

The petition comes barely days after the Chairman Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti South), said during an interview on Arise TV that Akpabio could not be probed by the Senate without a petition against him.

The Senate Spokesman said there was no formal petition from Senator Akpoti-Uguaghan before the Senate Committee on Ethics Privileges, and Public Petitions for investigation.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, alleged in her petition that the Senate President sexually harassed her.

She stated that after making comments on Arise TV regarding the alleged harassment, she decided to formally present the matter before the Senate.

Trouble between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uguaghan started over a disagreement on seating arrangements in the Senate. However, it soon escalated into a major controversy following her allegations.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan further claimed that Akpabio blocked her motions from being heard on the Senate floor because she had rejected his sexual advances.
