A group, the Southeast National Alliance for tribal Equality (SENATE), has called on Okigwe youths to shine their eye and be politically alert to the present political orography, gimmicks and maneuvers that is currently going-on in the country, to avoid regrets and setting the zone backwards.
They also tasked the youths to jettison political party and tribal sentiments to support the best material that will grantee massive employment of youths and development of the zone and Southeast.
The group, who gave this advice yesterday, in Owerri, through its National coordinator, Barr Uzoma Agu, while interacting with selected media men, noted that the distribution of 2015-2019 dividends of democracy has begun, while the southeast has continued to lose-out big time, due to the regions inability to adjust it self and play the brand of politics that is in tune with the present realities.
Speaking with excitement ahead of the rescheduled election billed to take place before the 31st of July 2016, he said the youths should put Okigwe zone and Ndi Igbo first in their agenda by considering the current realities in the country and happenings in the senate, where only members of the ruling APC are the ones making meaningful impacts in terms of attraction of projects and empowerment of their constituents through empowerment programs and federal employments.
Citing an instance with APC senators, the Igbo leader said, in six months, Senator Dino Meneya was able to undertake over 100 bore hole projects, donate busses to aid constituents who are in transport business, donate transformers and other empowerment tools like grinding machines etc, as well as, employment opportunities for constituents.
Speaking further, he maintained that another APC senator, Ahmed Sani, has within a short time in the senate, also donated over 250 transformers, solar panels and other accessories, as well as, secured employments opportunities and other empowerment materials for his constituents, emphasizing that he can go on to name over 3o APC legislators that has conducted the constituency briefing of their first legislative year and empowered their constituents, while their colleagues in the opposition keep telling stories of being shortchanged because they are in the opposition.
He however commended the PDP candidate for his scholarship program that named about 64 undergraduates as beneficiaries and for putting up a good fight against the APC, but went further to advice that he can still fulfill his social responsibilities to the people of Okigwe without disrupting the opportunity to attract developmental projects and employment that will improve the wellbeing of the people, insisting that his scholarship scheme is a social responsibility and not a project attracted from the federal government.
