The South-South Emerging Leaders Forum (SELF) has declared that the appointment of Effiong Akwa as the sole administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was in line with the act setting up the commission.
The forum stated this in a statement released on Monday, December 28 by its National Coordinator, Barrister Preye Johnson.
The group explained that the former governor of Akwa Ibom State should not be cruxified for the decision to sack the IMC or in the appointment of Akwa.
SELF said its critical analysis of the development has revealed that the few persons who are against the recent appointment were doing so for their personal gains.
Recall that the Niger Delta Change Ambassadors recently commended President Buhari for appointing Akwa as the interim administrator of the NDDC.
In an open letter sent to the president dated Sunday, December 13, the group noted that the appointment of Akwa will reunite all stakeholders in the Niger Delta region. The group also praised Akpabio for providing effective and unbiased leadership at a time the former leader of the interim management committee of the NDDC was been accused of fraud.
