The Supreme Court has thrown out a lawsuit filed by former Minister of State for Education, Prof. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.
The suit by Prof. Nwajiuba sought to void the participation of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 presidential election.
Nwajiuba and a group, the Rights for All International (RAI), had asked the Supreme Court to void the primaries from which Tinubu and Abubakar emerged as their parties’ candidates on grounds of alleged corruption.
According to a five-man panel of the apex court, the appeal by Nwajiuba and Rights for All International (RAI), was statute barred and had become academic.
Justice John Okoro dismissed the appeal after appellants’ lawyer applied to withdraw it.
